CoS Job Expectations (link)

Updated: Dec 8, 2023

There is no such thing as a "standard" CoS job, hence having a one-size-fits all job description template is impossible. So if you have to draft a job description start from the bigger picture and first principles of what you want the role to be and go from there.

Probably more useful for you is using these example job descriptions not for hiring a CoS, but as a CoS (or potential CoS hire) to help structure discussions with your Principal about what the expectations of your role are in the near term, and also where the role can evolve to in the future (i.e. your personal development goals).

So every quarter you have to draft your OKRs, and most likely every year or so you have to explain to your boss/exec-team what your focus for the next 12 months is going to be. If you are stuck what to include scanning through these for ideas can be helpful. Remember setting good expectations is *EVERYTHING* to winning in your role!
